Submit to our Spring Issue!

EXTENDED DEADLINE: March 15, 2021

For our next issue, we'll be using the theme of Acceptance/Resistance. We urge our contributors to reflect on what these two words mean in the context of their work, in the processes of creation and resilience. With that being said, the theme is not meant to restrict the kinds of work that will be accepted, and we look forward to featuring a wide range of perspectives.

As always, we accept:

~photography

~painting

~drawing

~cartoons

~illustrations

~poetry

~prose

~academic essays

~journal entries

~videos or animation

~ music recordings

~anything else you want to share

To submit your work to the publication, email us at fwordmtl@gmail.com.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Include your name and a short artist statement in the text of the email, and attach a document with your submission and its title. You may submit as many times and as many pieces as you like, but please include each as a separate document/file.

Artist Statement (100 words or less)

Artist statements are optional but can help provide some context to your submission(s). You may use it as a chance to introduce yourself, tell us the inspiration for the piece(s), or what your artistic endeavors mean to you. If you are submitting multiple pieces, you may include an artist statement for each piece OR write one artist statement that broadly encompasses your work.

Types of Files

Most file types are acceptable. For written submissions, word documents, Google drive links, and PDF formats are preferable. For visual submissions, please use jpeg, png, or PDF format.

As a multimedia publication, we realize some submissions may not fit into the above formats, such as with video/audio submissions. If you’re unable to submit with any of the above file types, use whatever works best for you but be sure that we are able to access it from a web browser.

Content

We are a feminist zine but the content does not need to be about feminism explicitly. We’re interested in diverse perspectives and experiences.

For this issue, we will be framing (art)work around the theme of Acceptance/Resistance. The theme is meant to inspire you to reflect on new meanings to your work and guide you in your artistic process, but do not let it limit you! If you would like to submit something that doesn’t fit with our theme, it will still be considered.

If you have any questions, please email us at fwordmtl@gmail.com. If you ever find yourself wondering if something is allowed, the answer will almost always be yes! These guidelines are meant to provide structure and make it easier for our team to process submissions, not to encumber you.
